Central Marketing Group, the trading arm of the Central Group, is taking another step to move its local brand to the international level by exporting to new markets such as India and the Middle East
Media Release
Jun. 16, 2006

Central Marketing Group, the trading arm of the Central Group, is taking another step to move its local brand to the international level by exporting to new markets such as India and the Middle East.

Pichai Chirathivat, CMG's chief executive officer, said the strategy would be in line with the plan of Central Pattana Plc, the property development arm of the group, to open shopping centres and department stores overseas. It also supports a government policy to turn Thailand into the centre of fashion goods.

As well, the move will help the company reduce business risks and operating cost due to a bigger production volume. "With over 40 years of experience in the marketing of fashion goods and manufacturing business, we believe we can create demand for Thai brands abroad, especially in the Asia-Pacific region," he said.

Earlier this year, CMG established an overseas corporate department to fully develop distribution channels abroad.

Mr Pichai said CMG was particularly interested in distributing its products in India because of its big population size. Also, Indian people have high purchasing power and sophisticated demand.

"I''m surprised to learn that sales of Samsonite luggage in India were among the top five for the brand. This represents huge market demand in the country."

CMG's own apparel brands _ S''Fare, Casualist and Evoluzione _ will spearhead exports to the new markets.
