Election in Pakistan occupied Kashmir the biggest farce of the world
Media Release
Jun. 12, 2006

India reiterated on Monday that the elections scheduled to be held in Pakistan-administered Kashmir next month would be a farce, like in the past, due to the stiff conditions laid down on candidates.

Political parties and candidates who do not declare their allegiance to the accession of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan have been barred from contesting the July 11 elections. "We have seen media reports that Pakistan has disqualified all political parties and candidates that failed to meet the condition of declaring their allegiance to the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan from contesting the forthcoming elections in what Pakistan calls ''Azad Jammu and Kashmir'' (AJK)," an external affairs ministry spokesman said.
