SRM Technologies and Japan Wave start Offshore Development Centre in Chennai

CHENNAI, May 24 Asia Pulse - A SRM group firm, SRM Technologies Pvt Ltd and Japanese technology company Japan Wave on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding for establishing an ''Offshore Development Centre'' here, which would be an extended arm of JW's development centre at Osaka, Japan.

Under the MoU, signed between SRM Technologies Chief Technical Officer P Srinivasan and JW Director Ayako Okamoto, the dedicated centre would be located at SRM Technologies and involve in new developments and enhancement of Digital Rights Management Solution Products (DRM) Product Range.

SRM Technologies CEO S Chandrasekharan, who witnessed the signing of the MoU, later told reporters that DRM, was a very unique technology developed to cut cost on film making and also provide foolproof copy protection.

DRM, currently being used in films, interbased downloading of music, games and movies, protected the data from being copied, he said adding that the patented DRM Technology had proved successful in Japan. It has also started making inroads in the US and Russia, he said.

Claiming that SRM Technologies had helped JW to develop the state-of-the-art DRM product range, he said the firm would identify suitable partners like internet service providers, telecom operators and film industry to deploy the products.

Besides, he said, SRM Technologies was also working for fortune 500 companies like Hitachi, NEC, Sanyo, Citibank, OKI, MHTS and HOYA.

The centre to be set up with an investment of US$200,000 was expected to earn a revenue of about US$1 million in its first year of operation, he said.
