Pakistan test fires longest-range nuclear-capable missile but technical problems lie in its capabilities

Pakistan's longest range nuke capable missile is suffering with technical problems. The problems lie in two areas. First, the nuclear device that it has to carry still exceeds its load capacity. Second, with maximum load, the accuracy of the missile is no where close to any international standard. If forty missiles are fired, most likely thirty nine will be off its target by as much as 15% of the range.
Pakistan on Saturday successfully test fired its longest-range nuclear-capable surface-to-surface missile, the military said.
According to media reports, The ballistic Missile Hatf VI (Shaheen II), with a range of 2,500 kilometers (1,555 miles), can carry "nuclear and conventional warheads with high accuracy," a Pakistan military statement said.
The upgraded and new version of the Shaheen II missile was carried "to validate additional technical parameters beyond those that were verified in the last test fire in March 2005," it said.
