The future of India-US nuclear deal if the current Congress led Government topples in India in coming months
Anil Rane
Mar. 25, 2006
The Congress party all on a sudden is running for cover from perceived corruption and lack of transparency. The opposition party BJP asked its party men to gear up for mid-term polls for the Lok Sabha as the ''Congress led UPA Government would collapse after the coming Assembly elections in five States''. In the middle of all these what is the future of India-US nuclear deal?
If the Government is changed, the new Government will engage with the Americans for a complete understanding and overhaul of the deal. BJP is concerned about India’s national security and the communists and socialists are totally anti-American. However, who ever come to power will have difficulty to reject the nuclear pact totally because of possible US-Pakistan engagement in future.
While US Congress id divided over the issue, the new Indian Parliament is equally if not more divided on the same issue.
