After nuke deal India tries to bridge gap with Iran - Indian PM, Iranian vice-president discuss enhanced cooperation.

According to media reports, in the first high-level contact since Indian capital New Delhi voted against Tehran at the 4 February IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] meeting, Iranian Vice-President Rahim-Masha''i on Saturday [25 March] met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here and the two leaders agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in energy sector.

Singh and Masha''i also agreed on the need for an early meeting of the India-Iran Joint Commission, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said.

"The two leaders emphasized the importance they attach to the civilizational ties between the two countries and need for further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the energy sector," he said.
