Time for atrocities to stop in Pakistan - 17-year-old Hindu girl marries her abductor, embraces Islam
World needs to check the human rights abuse in Pakistan.
According to media reports, Pakistan Hindu girl, recently abducted in southern Jacobabad town has married one of her abductors and embraced Islam, a Pakistani minister said.
Minister of State for Interior Wasim Shahzad told the National Assembly on Thursday that the girl was abducted on September 14 and a case was registered the same day.
As the police arrested two of the four abductors, the girl gave a statement in the court that she has married one of the accused and embraced Islam at Dargah Amrit Sharif.
“In light of her statement the court dismissed the case,” Shehzad said, adding everything was clear after the girl's statement in the court. But Gayan chand Singh, a minority Hindu MP belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim league, however, said her kidnapping falls in the category of rape.
Demanding registration of a case against the abductors, Singh said “it is a very sensitive issue which brings a bad name to the country.” Another minority member Kishan bheel said many Hindus are also being kidnapped for ransom in Sindh.
“These incidents are taking place to force the Hindus to leave Pakistan where they have been living for the past five thousand years,” he said.
MP Ramesh Lal claimed that the girl is only 17 years old and she is not an adult. “According to Hindu laws, a girl cannot marry until she attains the age of 20,” he said.
