Indian Defense Minister warns India’s neighbors on eyeing even an inch of Indian territories
India is strong, vibrant and absolutely resolute to maintain its territorial integrity. India’s defense minister asked India’s neighbors and the rest of the world not to attempt annexing even an inch of Indian territories.
According to media reports, addressing troops at headquarters of 57 Mountain Division at Leimakhong, about 25 kms north of Imphal, Mukherjee said, “neighbours should not cast evil eyes on Indian territories”.
As the country was having friendly relations with many of its neighbours, army personnel deployed at the borders with those countries would not have much problem, he said.
Mukherjee, who paid a one day visit to Manipur, said army troops have been deployed in the border state to help the government in bringing normalcy.
He said army personnel in the state had reached ‘peace truce’ with some eight or nine underground groups and as a result the troops had suspended counter insurgency operations in the areas infested by these groups.
Mukherjee also thanked the troops for flushing out insurgents from what was known as ‘liberation zones’ in some parts of Manipur. These areas were now under control of army. The Minister later flew to Aizawl.
