Missing Pakistani cricket fans – planning for a massive strike?

Aug. 6, 2005

Is India ready for a massive terror strike in its soil? If not, where are those 11 Pakistani cricket fans that came with a valid visa and never returned to Pakistan after the test match.

They went underground forming one of the most dreadful Pakistani sleeping terror cells in India. In spite of Indian police warnings and several public announcements, they cannot be found.

According to media reports, Punjab police has released photographs of 11 Pakistani nationals who had gone missing after crossing the border to watch the first India-Pakistan Test match at Mohali in March this year.

The fans were part of a group of 2,754 Pakistanis who were granted visas to enter India through the Wagah border to watch the first five-day Test which began on March 5.

The Pakistani nationals had come to India on valid visas to witness the first Test match. However, after the expiry of their visa term, they did not return to their country and went "missing" in India, a release issued by the state police said on Friday.

"As these missing persons were a threat to the sovereignty and security of the nation, information about their whereabouts could be given to the police immediately," it said.

Amritsar police had registered a case on March 31 against the 11 missing Pakistanis under section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
