Indian communists brokering a deal for india - China will support India's bid for UN Security Council permanent membership if India dumps Japan
If India is ready to dump Japan from its favored pallet; India can have the UNSC support from China. According to media reports from India and China, China "fully supports" India's bid for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council but hopes that New Delhi will end its alliance with Japan to enter the world body's top organ, CPI leader A.B. Bardan quoted a senior Chinese leader as telling him.
"We had a fruitful discussion on the question of India's claim to a permanent seat in the UN Security Council," Bardran, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), said about his meeting with Wu Guangzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the ruling Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee.
"We fully support the case of India, Brazil and Germany. They (China) wanted us to convey this message and to clear up the misunderstanding, which has been reported in the Indian press as if China has revised its support to India. It is not true at all," said Bardan.
However, Wu told Bardan that of late, some problems have come up in China's support to India's bid for a permanent membership in the UNSC. "But he (Wu) reiterated not once but several times that China fully supports India's case for a permanent seat in the Security Council. China fully stands by the joint statement issued after the visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao," Bardan said.
Wu said, "It is natural that we support India because after all India is a big and powerful country which has a large say in international affairs. We fully understand India's desire to be a permanent member," according to the CPI leader.
