Kashmir : Hizbul Mujahideen injures 40 innocent people and Indian security persons in twin bombs

According to a local news agency CNS of Kashmir valley, Hizbul Mujahideen has owned responsibility for an attack that has injured 40 innocent people and India security forces.

The impact of the blast was such that it was heard in most parts of the town. On hearing the big bang, people ran helter skelter. The injured were lying on the spot and crying for help. When the order was restored, they were removed to hospital.

Condition of five injured persons is said to be serious. They were referred to various hospitals here. Senior police and security officials rushed towards the spot. Normal life was adversely affected in the affected area.

Inspector General of CRPF, Operations, Ranjit Sinha confirmed that some of men of his force were injured in the explosion.

Unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards security vehicles picket at Dalgate here. It missed the intended target and exploded on the road. In the incident 17 civilians sustained injuries. They were removed to hospitals.

Eleven injured were shifted to SMHS hospital, and others to Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial hospital and SK Institute of Medical Sciences.

The blast disrupted the normal life in the area for some time. The explosion at Dalgate occurred a few weeks after the grenade attack infront of Tyndale Biscoe School here which led to a killing of a woman and her daughter and injuries to large number of school children.

Meanwhile, one militant and two security force men were killed in an encounter at Pathoshahi in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. The slain ultra has been identified as Sujaat Afghani.Police said unidentified gun men killed Zarifa when they barged into her house at Kralgund in Kupwara and fired on her. Police have registered a case in this regard.

UNI adds:

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) south Kashmir Sheikh Owais Ahmad told UNI that a blast took place near post office at K P Road on Anantnag- Amarnath cave route at 1310 hours.

He said the injured were admitted to different hospitals where six persons, including two CRPF personnel, were discharged after first-aid.

The five critically injured civilians and four CRPF personnel, who received splinter wounds, were rushed to hospital here.

About the blast, the south Kashmir police chief said it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which could have been triggered by militants through a timer.

However, he said it was not yet known whether the IED was planted in the car parked near a CRPF vehicle or it was on the road.

''''We are on the job to find out the truth,'''' he said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the blast.

He said the area remained crowded being near post office and also important route.
