South Korea unhappy over security arrangements with America
South Korea has expressed quietly some unhappiness over the security arrangements with America in case of a crisis with the North Korea. However, the South Korean disagreement with American will not hinder a joint operation of American-South Korean joint operations against North Korea, sources say.
South Korean President Roh Moo Hyun said on April 17th that there is no risk of a disruption in the longtime alliance between South Korea and the United States. However, Roh added that bilateral relations "have been changing a little recently compared with the past." Roh was responding to a Korea Times report that U.S.-South Korean relations were hurt when South Korea's National Security Council declared its opposition to a contingency plan that would allow the U.S. military to assume command of South Korean troops if an emergency occurs in North Korea.
