In the middle of all hoopla the real difference between Pakistan and India emerge – redrawing of LOC and giving some land to Pakistan!
Closely watched analysts finally understood the essence of actual difference between India and Pakistan. All did not go that well between Musharraf and Manmohan. They agreed to disagree for the moment.
Where the real differences lie are in points – the redrawing of the Line of Actual Control and the Bhagiliar dam issue related to sharing if water in the river. Pakistan expects India to concede some land in Kashmir and sharing of water fairly. India agreed to concede the cricket match but not any land in Kashmir.
Manmohan was reserved with little to rejoice other than greeting the guest.
Manmohan Singh did not speak to the media, but Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said the Indian prime minister had informed Musharraf that great progress could be made over Jammu and Kashmir if Islamabad gave up its hopes of appropriating any part of the state.
"The prime minister said that the redrawing of borders is something not possible, but there could be greater traffic of people, cross-border trade and across-the-spectrum contacts between the two countries," Saran said.
Musharraf responded by saying the two counties had made a lot of progress on Kashmir and that discussions should continue. He underlined Pakistan's commitment to fight terrorism by pointing out how Islamabad had promptly condemned the terrorist attack aimed at the trans-Kashmir bus a day before it launched on its maiden journey.
While saying neither country would impose a deadline, he stressed on the importance of resolving all outstanding issues. No details of the Kashmir discussion were revealed.
