West Bengal politics shows the triumph of goons and FIR - Marxists did it for forty years, and then Trinammol fell into the trap of revenge and disgrace.
The world has marked West Bengal as the most undemocratic state in India where goons dominate and ruling party uses the police and FIR to spread fear to cover up their limitless corruption.
Marxist did this for forty years. Industries and businesses left West Bengal. Those who stayed learned how to bribe the Marxists and use them to exploit common people. But then Mamata and her Trinamool came with a lot of hope. Soon the anti-marxist sentiments turned into revenge and the same story of using FIR and cops to silence people started. One has to wait and see if those tactics will eventually end in covering for blatant corruption and atrocities like the communists continued for forty years.
The arrest of the communist professor from Jadavpur University who was arrested for spreading jokes and cartoon of Trinamool leadership specially Mamata is nothing new in Bengal. In West Bengal all that matters is who knows who in the power structure and who can use cops and goons to threaten. The land, properties, real estate rentals, trade unions affairs, even taxation are run that way.
During the Marxist regime it was common to snatch away properties from the weak citizens including widows threatening them with goons and cops. Government resources were distributed based on communist party affiliations. However, over the course of time Marxists learned the way to keep the world ignorant about their mischievous deeds. They kept a nice cover in Kolkata and under that cover they did all their dirty stuff in the country side hoping the world will not watch that.
Trinmool Congress and Mamata Bannnerjee's approach to freedom of speech and civil liberty shows that these people just do not understand civilized behavior in the free democratic world. How can they? After all all these people in their twenties, thirties, forties and even fifties have grown up in Marxist regime. All they know is using goons, threatening with FIR and using cops to control the mass.
The result is devastating for West Bengal. Young men and women complete their education in Kolkata and leave the state to find decent employment in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Industry is boycotting the state fro a long time and now the state is a beggar living of welfare from stipulations allowed by the central government. If there is a midterm election, and for some reason a different party or some one other than Pranab Mukherjee becomes India's finance minister, West Bengal will have file for bankruptcy.
People dislike going and settling in Bengal. Now people will start avoiding even visiting the state in fear of getting mugged by goons - be it Marxists goons or Trinamool goons.
One good thing is that Amnesty International and other human rights organizations finally understood the level of lack of civilized governance that exist in west Bengal. Now West Bengal is put in the same category as Mayanmar, North Korea, and China. It is a shame and disgrace for India and every Indian all over the world. Because we Indians call ourselves democratic, champion of free speech, and civilized.
