Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) on Monday claimed responsibility for the explosives recovered from an abandoned car at Ambala on October 12.
This coincides with the 27th death anniversary of India's former PM Mrs. Indira Gandhi
The statement, emailed to certain media offices, claimed the explosives were meant to assassinate Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who is charged with instigating a mob that killed six persons in Delhi during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that followed the assassination of Indira Gandhi.
The KTF also added it had no ties with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Intelligence agencies had suspected the explosives found in Ambala had been supplied by LeT.
"Security agencies are terming it as handiwork of the LeT and claim that it was being brought in for blasts during the festival season. Let me make it clear that the KTF has no intention of killing any innocent person. The explosive material was meant to eliminate Sajjan Kumar," the KTF statement said.
