The arms shipment seized Oct. 26 in Nigeria did not conflict with U.N. sanctions: Iranian envoy in Nigeria
Special Correspondent
Feb. 9, 2011

The arms shipment seized Oct. 26 in Nigeria did not conflict with U.N. sanctions because Iran and Gambia signed a secret agreement two years before the 2010 U.N. ban on Iranian arms exports, Iran's ambassador to Nigeria Hussein Abdullahi stated Feb. 9.

Abdullahi spoke to senior Nigerian officials after the shipment was seized and said the intercepted cargo was the third of four Gambia-bound shipments originating from Iran. The officials were requested to not allow those unhappy with Iranian-Nigerian relations to take advantage of the incident, Abdullahi stated Feb. 8.
