ElBaradei said there would be no political or security vacuum were Mubarak to leave office

Egyptian opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei said on Al-Arabiya following Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's speech Feb. 1 that the regime had lost legitimacy and that the president's refusal to resign has extended Egypt's instability.

ElBaradei said there would be no political or security vacuum were Mubarak to leave office, and that only his resignation could bring stability. ElBaradei also called for the dismissal of the ''phony'' parliament.
