The Sudanese army fought with members of two rebel factions in Darfur for four hours,local media reported, citing a statement from a Sudanese army spokesman. A Sudanese army spokesman said fighters from the Justice and Equality Movement and Sudan Liberation Army ambushed the Sudanese soldiers on a road between Nyala and El Fasher the evening of Jan. 20. Thirteen rebels were killed, as were eight Sudanese army soldiers.
