Commonwealth Games - a total failure of Congress Party, Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi - time to reevaluate the quality of Indian leadership
The congress party and its Government at the center has messed up the prestige and national pride of India by not putting enough priorities in the preparation of the Commonwealth Games.
The Delhi International Airport got a new look - the international standard. But when it came to real usability, the facilities are not ready yet.
The biggest shame is in the Common Wealth Games Athletes Village. The construction is not complete, the filth and dirty smell is everywhere, and general hygiene is totally missing. It is a genuine shame!
New Zealand Chef de Mission for the Delhi Commonwealth Games, Dave Currie aised serious concerns regarding the residential zone of the Games Village. The Games will not get canceled. But it is a total disgrace for India!
How can you ask an athlete from Canada, New Zealand, or Australia live in the middle of filth and total lack of hygiene. People in charge of constructing and maintaining these residential quarters do not understand the international standards and are just took it for granted that like Indian and Pakistani athletes, international athletes will live and enjoy the filth and dirty smell they refused to clean.
The corruption was so high among these contractors and Government officials that most of the money were funneled into bribes to the Government officials in New Delhi.
“There are some realities, I guess, that if the village is not ready and athletes can’t come then obviously the implications of that are it is not going to happen. If the village isn’t ready, the athletes can’t arrive,” Currie said.
“It’s not our decision. We’re not saying we’re not coming or the country’s not coming. What we’re saying is they’ve got a real challenge with the village and they need to take urgent attention to address it,” he added.
