When Obama and Bush Administrations misused stimulus funds, they showed the mode of ignorance, according to Bhagavad-Gita
And charity performed at an impure place, at an impure time, to unworthy persons, or without proper attention and respect is said to be in the mode of ignorance: Bhagavad-Gita.
When the Bush Administration and Obama Administration indulged in supplying huge sum of money to bailout the large banks, insurance companies, and other corporate entities that literally lost money because of their "business gambling" mode, the charity was not used properly.
Bhagavad-Gita says very clearly, contributions for indulgence in intoxication and gambling are not real charity; it is the sign of darkness in consciousness and ignorance.
Such charity is not beneficial; rather, sinful persons and entities are encouraged to commit further sins.
What the Banking and other financial institutions did was nothing less than corporate intoxication in greed through hedge funds, financial swaps, and ruthless risk taking. What Bush and Obama Administration allowed is encouragement of gambling and ruthless risk taking by large corporate entities that could not run business like small business owners.
Gita also says that if charity is given without respect, dignity, and selflessness, the charity is not real charity but mode of darkness.
The politicians need to respect common people. Extending unemployment benefits without regard to the real need for jobs in the economy is representation of disrespect, and a form darkness in spirituality. What they should do is to take the time to understand how real jobs can be created and preserved within the boundary of the country. On one hand they extend unemployment benefits, and on the other hand, they encourage outsourcing.
What politicians do is to create some sensation by throwing in some ''''welfare'''' for the poor people. According to Gita, if you give money to a poor person as a charity or welfare without teaching him or her how to earn a real living without begging, it is a form of non-charity, a form of spiritual darkness and passion.
