The case is suspicious from the beginning. It may be a classical setup case by Indian police to hide their incompetence.

upta (53), who has been in police remand since her arrest on April 23, claimed she was innocent and was being framed in the case, according to her lawyer. She made the claim before the chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja during in-chamber proceedings, which lasted for ten minutes. The proceedings were held in camera in view of the sensitivity of the case and under provisions of the Official Secrets Act.

Gupta's advocate Joginder Dahiya also refuted the allegation that she fell into a "honey trap" in Pakistan. "She [Gupta] told me that nothing like that has happened. I don''t know on what basis the police is saying this," Dahiya said. He said his client had told the court that she was "innocent and being framed in the case".
