Tensions escalate between Georgia and Russia – Russia threatens to attack

Russian tanks may be on its way again in Georgia. Georgia categorically denies Russian claims that Georgia fired first in South Ossetia. Russia accused Georgia of firing at South Ossetia and warned that its troops may fight back.

Russia’s Defense Ministry issued a statement that Russia reserves all the rights to defend South Ossetia. However international think tanks believe this is just a scenario that Russia may be making up this time.

The tension is high. Georgia’s relationship with Russia has not improved. United States has stood its ground in trying to defend Georgian interests. Obama Administration does not want any confrontation with Russia. However, America also wants Georgia to feel safe and comfortable against a major power in its border.
