Younis cracks double-ton, Pakistan 556 for 7 – “Runs are important”: Inzy
Pakistan is in a comfortable position. Inzy and Younis Khan did their job with 184 and 260 not out respectively.
‘‘I am happy with my performance. If we get the opportunity, we will take it and put in a lot more runs. As a captain and senior member of the team, it was important for me to get runs after early wickets were lost and a new batsman at the crease,’’ Inzy said at a press conference after the day’s play. ‘‘This was a crucial match for the team and this was a great effort. After we lost two early wickets, I just wanted to survive the new ball and stay at the wicket,’’ he added.
‘‘I dedicate the innings to my father. The team needed it and I will try to get more for my team. We are aiming at a score of more than 500 runs,’’ he said. Inzy’s family was in Bangalore to witness his 100th Test appearance.
‘‘The weather was pretty hot. There was a lot of pressure on me when I came to bat. After tea, I had cramps but my physio helped me out. A lot of concentration is needed to play a long innings because one ball is all it takes to get out,’’ he further added.
Younis Khan ‘s unbeaten 225 was marvelous too, Pakistani vice-captain Younis Khan cracked his first double-century in Test cricket to guide the visitors to 504 for seven by tea on the second afternoon. It was also the first time ever that Pakistan have scored over 500 runs on Indian soil.
