BJP plans to renegotiate the deal completely with McCain or Obama if America wants a real nuclear deal with India
BJP leadership is confident of winning the no confidence motion against the Congress party led UPA coalition. But no matter what the outcome of the Parlimant trust vote is, other than rigging the election in Musharraf or Saddam or Mugabe style, the Congress party has no chance of winning the next election.
BJP leadership and NDA coalition is determined to make America recognize India as a partner country instead of the current perceprion that India can be another satelite nation hungry for nuclear energy and strategic defense. According to BJP, America needs India more than Indian needs America as a strategic partner.
Obama or McCain in 2009 will face a very determined nationalist Indian Government led by the BJP. Neither the pro-Chinese communists nor the backbone less western-loving Sonia Gadhi will be able to influence India’s resolve in renegotiationg the deal completely.
The biggest concern is that India will hand over $100 billion to American and European companies providing nuclear reactors and components and after that India will become a hostage to nuclear fuel suppliers like Australia which has a solid bias against India.
The other concern is nuclear sovereignity. American attitude especially that of the neo cons spearheaded by the Bush Administration is the real problem. When racism and bias is extended into foreign policies and a talented country like India is approached with a sort of stick and carrot approach, Indian nationalists and patriots have every right to reject European surrogates like Sonia Gandhi, and her beloved America as well as Europe.
Obama or McCain are both different types of leaders. They are not ‘George Bush’ serving the neo con right wing and fat cat US Corporations only. Obama or McCain both will treat India with respect a fair deal will be negotiated with America that respects both American concerns and Indian fear.
