Is Congress party offering $6.25 million per MP crossing over to vote for India-US nuclear deal? $100 billion to American corporations, kickbacks in action?
The nuclear deal is about money and American Corporations selling $100 billion worth of outdated nuclear reactors and equipments with questionable safety issues to India. The money involved is the largest one can imagine.
To stay in power and do ahead with the implementation deal the Congress party is offering $6.25 million (Rs, 25 crore) per MP crossing over to vote for the trust vote. Many small parties and indecent MPs including the Speaker of the Parliament, a long time Indian Marxist is dilly dallying against standing up to money machine.
CPM leader Prakash Karat avowed he would go all out to prevent the government from winning the trust vote. But can he even keep his own party MPs from the luring $6.25 million offer?
CPI leader AB Bardhan accused the Congress of horse-trading. He alleged the party had offered Rs 25 crore to each MP to win the trust vote.
Where did Congress party get that money? Is it an advanced payment from American companies as kickbacks? Ronen Sen, the Indian ambassador in Washington says he is absolutely confident of winning the trust vote. Where is getting his number from?
Just before the Iraq invasion, the US special operations force was running across Iraq with bags of cash trying to buy out the Iraqi National Guard Generals.
Is CIA involved in this offer of $6.25 million from the Congress party to Indian MPs? No can say for sure what is happening. There will be no proof ever just like the Bofors case went nowhere and ended in a dead end.
One thing is for sure; Indian democracy faces its biggest challenge ever since 15th August 1947.
