Iranian missile test photo digitally changed by Iran to confuse western defence analysts
Tanmay Lahiri
Jul. 12, 2008

Iran tried their best vut got caught. The photo of three missiles lifting off apparently was altered to add a fourth. Patrick Baz, Middle East photo editor in Cyprus for AFP who originally published the photo regrets allowing technical manipulations by the Iranian Government.

Baz said AFP's Tehran bureau obtained the four-missile version from Sepahnews.com, the website of Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

Now political think tanks believe Iran faked the whole photo shoot to confuse western defence analysts and strategists.

There is no doubt they performed the missile tests. But they did not provide the real pictures. A search by the French news agency turned up a video on Iranian TV that showed just three missiles rising, Baz said. AFP technical experts in Paris also said the image was manipulated.
