Indian oligarch’s two aircrafts seized by Indian custom department for evasion of duty to the tune of over Rs 57 crore ($150 million)
Sujata Rai
Jul. 4, 2008

No matter how rich people are, they keep evading taxes. Indian oligarchs (in India they are called industrialists by the locals) are especially notorious for that, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is charged with evasion of duty to the tune of over Rs 57 crore ($150 million) on two aircraft bought by the company by the customs department.

The Indian oligarch told the customs in India that the planes will be used for chartered purposes. Later it was found that the oligarch uses them for his personal purpose and family fun.

The Indian oligarch is denying charges as usual. Tax evasion, political bribing, manipulating police department with money are the common practices of notorious Indian oligarchs. The naïve common people are slaves under these Indian oligarchs.

The Indian oligarch Mukesh Ambani played down the story. In a statement his company says: “The authorities concerned as a matter of routine procedure have sent out notices to several non-scheduled operators. Reliance is fully complying with all procedures as notified by the authorities."
