Jul. 1, 2008

Lehman may not be as lucky as Bear Sterns. All indications point to a run on Lehman just like the next Bear Sterns. A run on the bank can be catastrophic. But Federal Reserve may not come out to save the financial institution this time.
Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. shares tumbled on Monday to their lowest level since 2000 on news that the Wall Street firm is in trouble, including possibly having to sell itself for a bargain-basement price.
The Dow Jones Wilshire U.S. Banks Index, which slid 26% for the quarter – the worst performance in recent history signifying a real meltdown in the financial sector.
Lehman denied all such rumors. But so did Bear Sterns before totally capitulating.
