Jammu and Kashmir headed for President’s rule in spite of Azad’s blatant assurances

The Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has challenged the Azad Government to prove his majority by July 7.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has claimed he continued to enjoy majority support in the House and was ready to prove it any time.

But the fact is that the Government is a minority Government without the support of the 18 PDP MLAs.

The Opposition National Conference with 24 MLAs has ruled out extending support to the government.

Political analysts are predicting a President’s rule in Kashmir. A bigger question looms in the air. How will Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi deal with the anti-Indian sentiment of PDP and its leadership? How can India allow pro-Pakistani groups openly preach anti-Indian norms in Kashmir?
