The World Health Organization, one of United Nations'' most important agencies indicates political and security improvement in Iraq – Americans championed diplomacy over war mongering
Americans have achieved to take Iraq in a more stable ground in recent days. The signature of that comes from the World Health Organization (WHO), one of United Nations'' most important agencies. WHO has devcided to open a permanent office in Baghdad.
The move comes nearly five years after the U.N. headquarters in Iraq was bombed, killing 22 people and curtailing a lot of the agency's work.
The special representative of the U.N. secretary-general for Iraq, Staffan de Mistura, made the announcement Saturday. "We will continue to provide more support to the Iraqis through our programs in many areas of activity," de Mistura said.
This clearly shows that something American achieved that was beyond their
Capabilities a few years back. They used the carror and stick tactics. The baathists and the Sunnis were tired of fighting. They found a new friend called Americans to fight against the Shiites. American generals in Iraq these days are more politicians than a police force. Keeping the military deterrant they ahave worked with the Sunnis after the so called ‘surge’.
Iraq is abetter place and Al-Queda is getting defeated because Americans finally championed diplomacy over war mongering.
Still a lot needs to be done. Al-Queda still is a threat. But its hope in Iraq is diminishing every day. The bottom line is simple. If native population does not support, imported insurgency cannot really work.
It is a lesson forAmerica and other budding superpowers. In the present world affairs, no matter how powerful your military is, war mongering does not work. What works is shrewd diplomacy. Bush Administartion has failed but Americanm military has won this one.
