Pakistan’s ISI behind failed Kashmir riots over against transfer of forest land to Amarnath shrine board but this time they face surprise
Bande-Ma-Taram is the inspiration for the Hindus in Kashmir. As Pakistani ISI agents started the stir on the issue of transfer of forestland to Amarnath shrine board, they realized that Kashmir has changed quite a bit. The ISI agents were all over the state trying to strategize how to create riots against state troopers and security forces. But at the end the riots failed miserably.
Three persons were killed on Wednesday and 75 others, including 15 policemen, injured when police fired warning shots at demonstrators as violent protests against transfer of forest land to Amarnath shrine board spread to new areas of Kashmir valley. Among the injured were Hindus and Muslims. For the first time Pakistan’s ISI saw a different Kashmir where Hindus activists were ready to defend Hindu causes.
The Kashmir valley has been gripped by protests against the transfer of forest land to the Amarnath shrine board to set up facilities for pilgrims on environment ground and also because land cannot be transferred to any organization under Article 370 which accords special status to the state.
But Amarnath case is legal and special under Article 370. Like in eighties, to take advantage of the situation and stir up riots, Pakistani agents were all over the state organizing youth and general population protests.
Pakistan’s ISI and Indian security forces were both surprised. The state government and Indian security forces underestimated the ISI’s role in the riots. ISI never realized that Hindu activists will challenge them like never before.
