McCain’s only hope – if terror strikes again, he can convince people that Al-Queda is the only threat
Surjit Chawla
Jun. 25, 2008

Senator John McCain is losing the popularity game. His biggest baggage is Bush Administration. His biggest offense is the hope terror strikes America again before the November election. His real problem is that Al-Queda may not oblige him knowing his political past.

He has portrayed himself as the best commander in Chief for Iraq invasion and the worst commander in chief for everything else.

Interestingly, a strong majority of Americans oppose the Iraq invasion and continued occupation of Iraq. They believe it was wrong in the first place. However they find McCain better suited to handle Iraq than his Democratic presidential rival, Barack Obama.

McCain only hope is to turn the election into another national security scare tactic like that of Bush’s WMD (Weapons of Mass Deception).

Unlike the 2004 presidential contest, this is not shaping up as a national security election. Neither the war nor terrorism is foremost in the public's mind. The economy and energy prices are the pre-eminent issues of the day. And on those, Obama has the edge.
