Indian Army analyzing and learning from US-style space warfare
Kiran Chaube
Jun. 15, 2008

Indian Army is determined to use the India’s advanced space research and development to create defense assets to deter the enemy. A week after India announced setting up of an Integrated Cell to coordinate all military operations based on space assets, the Army's Directorate of Perspective Planning (DOPP) will organize a training program on Monday for the officers to make them understand the tricks and practices adopted by the US forces.

India is closely looking into the role of space-based applications in recent conflicts around the world.

"In particular, the use of space-based assets by the US forces in Afghanistan and Iraq would be debated. Army officers would learn the practices adopted by the US forces in utilizing space applications to counter enemies in its battles in Iraq and Afghanistan," media sources said.

Indian Army is looking forward to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to provide the best defensive and offensive space based assets for military use.
