Should Presidents in US after leaving office be allowed to earn millions through speeches and controversial hidden deals- is it perform now we will pay you later?

Apr. 6, 2008

American Presidents hold unusually extreme powers as the head of the state of a three trillion dollar economy. What we saw in Clinton’s tax returns is something to think about. Americans Presidents have left offices and then gave speeches and got involved in questionable deals making hundreds of millions of dollars.

Many international think tanks believe that a smell of corruption is in the air. Can it be that a US President is offered a deal – perform now for us and we will pay you later after you leave offices through your speeches, consulting work and private equity investment deals? Is it possible that all the Presidents are being offered deals like this. Does this form a sort of bribe?

When big celebrities and politicians make money of book deals it is understandable. But when someone makes $50 million by giving bunch of speeches, it is questionable. Bill Clintons questionable deals with various entities after leaving office is raising eyebrows all over the world. In additions hundreds of millions of dollars pored in from foreign dictators and US special interest groups for the Library foundation. Where did this money come from – no one knows!
