Indian workers allegedly treated as slaves in America plan to walk 1500 miles to Washington DC to protest against Indian ambassador Ronen Sen and Bush Administration
Tarun Sikhdar
Mar. 19, 2008

They are upset with the Indian Government and the American Government. America is about to witness the non violent Indian protest against slavery and human indignation. Over 100 Indian workers, who allegedly faced ‘slave-like treatment’ in a Mississippi shipyard and unhelpful attitude from the embassy, have threatened to stage a nonviolent 'satyagraha'' in Washington if New Delhi does not take up their cause with the US government.

They are upset on Bush Administration. They are also upset with the Indian Government who has refused to intervene. It is time that Bush Administration intervenes and the labor commissioner gets involved in addressing the allegedly slave labor trade in the Mississippi shipyard.

They are expected to reach Washington DC on March 26 to meet Indian Ambassador Ronen Sen in their search for justice.

"We write in response to your seven-day-long silence, followed by a 97-word letter that adds insult to the workers'' injury as survivors of human trafficking. Apparently 18 months of human trafficking merited less than 100 words from you," the workers have said in a letter.
