FBI’s investigation of subprime lender Countrywide Financial Corp. on possible securities fraud can bring real trouble for Bank of America

Bank of America may be wondering about its worst financial decision to buy a possible fraudulent predatory lender that is about to sink fast.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing subprime lender Countrywide Financial Corp. for possible securities fraud. According to media reports, The inquiry involves whether company officials made misrepresentations about the company's financial position and the quality of its mortgage loans in securities filings.

Countrywide spokeswoman Jumana Bauwens denies any such FBI investigations. Bank of America is quiet on the issue.
