Calling broad consensus India rolls over nuke deal with US to 2009 and beyond
Balaji Reddy
Mar. 3, 2008

GE and Western Electric needs the $100 billion now! They keep knocking the door of Bush Administration. Americans are creating invisible pressure on India to sign up before end of summer 2008.

PM Manmohan Singh asked his External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to create the scenario for rolling over the agreement to next US Administration in 2009. This gives India an opportunity to start negotiating better deals with Obama or McCain.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said: ''We will continue to seek broad political consensus within the country to take forward our engagement on this issue with other countries.'' Interestingly at the same time the Left parties warned the Government on taking any concrete steps towards implementing the deal.
