Sri Lanka wins the revised match affected by rain – unfortunate for India
Kartik Punaskar
Feb. 12, 2008

Sri Lanka’s win of the match against Indian in the tri-series tournament with an eight-wicket victory is controversial. In a rain-shortened One-Day International at Manuka Oval on Tuesday, the match was manipulated to accommodate rain. Sri Lanka was set a revised target of 154 off 21 overs to win under the Duckworth-Lewis method after India made 195 for five from their 29 overs. Sri Lanka reached the target with two overs to spare, Tillakaratne Dilshan finishing unbeaten on 62 and captain Mahela Jayawardene not out 36. "It was a crucial game for us," Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayawardene told reporters.
