Balaji, Kumble strikes as India eye victory
MOHALI: Leg spinner Anil Kumble struck two vital blows as India pushed for victory against Pakistan on the fourth day of the first test on Friday.
The visitors were 257 for six in their second innings at stumps, just 53 runs ahead after India had amassed 516 all out in the morning session in reply to Pakistan's 312.
Kumble dismissed captain Inzamam-ul-Haq for 86 and Yousuf Youhana for 68 after their 139-run fourth wicket partnership had steadied Pakistan after a terrible start.
Fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji triggered the early slump and later removed Asim Kamal (48) to claim three for 67 and a match haul of eight wickets.
Leg spinner Danish Kaneria claimed six for 150 in the Indian innings, his ninth five-wicket innings haul in tests.
