Worst example of democracy- in an election largely boycotted by the opposition, Pakistani dictator wins in a landslide
Preeti Singhani
Oct. 6, 2007

He knew he would win because there was no one available to oppose him. No one wants to get executed for talking against him. It is the case of a worst democracy and freedom in the world. In a set framework Musahrraf won his Presidential bid in a landslide.

Members of the two-chamber parliament and four provincial assemblies voted for the next would be President. Musharraf won 252 of 257 votes in the two houses of parliament. Wajihuddin Ahmed, his closest rival won 2 votes and the other three votes were disqualified.

It was a farce from the beginning. It is even worse than Saddam getting himself elected in Iraq.

The Pakistani dictator, the architect of Kargil treachery, has to wait, however for the the Supreme Court to confirm the legality of his presidential bid.

Interestingly, a covert agreement between Benazir Bhutto and Musharraf is in the air. The dictator wants to put Bhutto as a puppet Prime Minister to control the people of Pakistan. Benazir wants to use Musharraf to bring democracy back to Pakistan and regain lost power.

The drama in Pakistani political stage has just started.
