Indian and American software companies are target of militants in India – three militants dead, major plot uncovered
Sudhir Chadda
Mar. 7, 2005

With the killing of three militants and the arrest of two others here, police say they have uncovered a plot to strike major software companies in Bangalore. The police have refused to put the whole facts in the public but sources say that an extensive network has been uncovered.

The recent stampede of Western software companies all over India especially Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune has given rise to the possibility of a lucrative target for the terrorists.

Many software engineers fearing for their life is reluctant to work in India. They would rather go out of India and work in adifferent country.

The security infrastructure is especially weak. The influx of American companies without adequate improvement of security infrastructure can be dangerous. Al-Queda always look for soft targets where scope are available. It is obvious that they are also looking at these security lapses.

Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil refused to make any comment. But in recent days, the Ministry has expressed concern about the unchecked growth of BPO companies without appropriate security built up top protect these obvious targets.
