Did Saudis made up the terror strories to boost the oil price - Saudi police today arrested 172 Islamic militants but what was the real motive?

Apr. 28, 2007

The problem lies with how these militants were captured and what they were trying to do. While there are some militants in that group, why link them oil? Are Saudis and oil companies afraid of collapsing oil prices again? Are Nigerian rebels not following the commands of oil companies?

According to media reports, Saudi police today arrested 172 Islamic militants who they said were planning attacks that involved flying airplanes into oil fields. The Saudi Interior Ministry said the militants were planning suicide attacks against public figures, refineries and other oil facilities and military installations, some of them outside the kingdom.

“They had reached an advanced stage of readiness and what remained was to set the zero hour for their attacks,” a spokesman for the ministry, Brig Mansour al-Turki, said. The ministry statement said some of the people detained today had traveled to other countries to learn how to fly airplanes, so that they could carry out attacks in Saudi Arabia. There were also plans to storm a Saudi prison and free inmates.

Did Saudis set up the vetch and show game to boost the oil prices?
