U.S. plans to deploy a missile defense system in Central Europe could trigger a new arms race : Russian President Vladimir Putin
Media Release
Feb. 10, 2007

.S. plans to deploy a missile defense system in Central Europe could trigger a new arms race, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Munich Conference on Security Policy on Feb. 10. Putin added that the West seeks to impose its view of the world on other countries, that the United States has "overstepped its national borders in every way" and that it was engaging in "an almost uncontained hyper use of force in international relations." He also said Russia has not provided missile technology to Iran, and that such technology actually originated in Europe and Asia.
