GM and Ford saw their October sales rebound but behind the jump lies a serious down trend led by consumer reluctance to buy
Peter Oberois
Nov. 1, 2006

Toyota keeps gaining the market share based on quality and convenience. The sales in GM and Ford was dominated by lower revenue cars with relatively higher incentives as a percentage of the price.

The consumer reluctance comes from lack of buying power. This in turn is creating a problem for the carmakers. They have no pricing power.
