State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov said participants in the six-party talks should meet soon to determine how to respond to the test
Media Release
Oct. 9, 2006

Russia summoned North Korean Ambassador to Russia Pak Ui Chun to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Oct. 9 following North Korea's nuclear test, Russia's Interfax news reported. State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Konstantin Kosachyov said participants in the six-party talks should meet soon to determine how to respond to the test, and claimed that the Russian government was not informed of the test until after it occurred. Kosachyov attributed North Korea's move toward acquiring nuclear weapons to the "mass pressure exerted by the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush over the past few years."
