Intel claims quad core Xeon processors will get leadership back forom AMD by November but AMD has its own plans to solidify its gains
Karen Stangel
Sep. 26, 2006

The quad core processors will be made available for Intel's server and game customer by November. While performance wise it can create miracle, the machines face problem of removing heat generated in the chip. The server and game manufaturers will have to use good solid fans to dissipate and neutralize the heat but the end result then is noisy macchines.

AMD says it has its own plans to make sure they are ahead of Intel. Their announcements will follow soon.

Intel Developer Forum participants were skeptical about Intel's claims. Intel announced the new chip shipment dates in the developer forum.

Interestingly, a judge threw out major portions of AMD's high-profile antitrust suit against Intel.
