India and Germany ready for joint Military excercises
India and Germany are about to unleash a new level of Military cooperation. Both the countries are interested in cooperation in the field of joint exercises and more interaction between the services.
Accortding to media reports from Germany, The Indian and German defense ministers were set to sign a defense cooperation agreement Wednesday that will boost military ties between the two countries, India's government said.
Indian Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet his German counterpart Franz Josef Jung in Berlin to ink the deal, the government said in a statement.
This will be the "first-ever joint defense cooperation agreement" between the two nations, Mukherjee said.
Germany's Minister for Technology and Economics Michael Gloss will also be present for the signing of the document that will encompass defense technology and training.
"Both the countries are interested in cooperation in the field of joint exercises and more interaction between the services," the government statement said.
During his visit to Germany, Mukherjee is also expected to visit the Zehrensdorf Indian Cemetery where 206 Indian soldiers, who died as prisoners during World War I, are buried.
Mukherjee arrives in Germany after a three day visit to France where he toured the French military headquarters and the French Armament Procurement Agency.
India, which has been expanding and modernizing its army in recent years has conducted joint exercises with several nations, including the U.S. and Russia.
