Aug. 20, 2006

According to the Government, urrent three-match one-day series against India because of the wet weather in Colombo.

The fact of the matter is according to internal sources, it was the lack of security concern that caused the cancellation.

Only 3.4 overs of play was possible in the first two matches and weather forecasters are predicting more rain in the coming days.

"The rain has already ruined two matches and the forecast is not good, so we have requested for the series to be played at a later date," a Sri Lanka Cricket official said on Sunday.

SLC officials have sent a proposal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the series to be rescheduled just before or after the 2007 World Cup.
