Approximately 30 percent of all flights scheduled to depart London's Heathrow Airport on Aug. 13 were canceled, as new security restrictions slowed processing of passengers to the point that they had to be. The airport canceled 100 flights to Europe. All domestic flights from Gatwick Airport also were canceled. British Home Secretary John Reid said the security measures currently in place, which prevent passengers from taking any sort of carry-on luggage, are not sustainable and eventually will have to be altered.
