BJP’s Landslide win in MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan - What it really means for India! Why Delhi turned to Congress?

The Bharatiya Janata Party today swept the polls in Rajasthan, MP and Chattisgargh to the surprise of many pollsters, politicians and even BJP itself. Congress prevailed in Delhi – the only face saving act it could provide. In MP, the BJP won 172 seats in the 230-member legislative assembly. The ruling Congress, which had 124 seats in the last assembly, had won only 39. The others accounted for 19 seats. The final tally in Delhi was Congress 47, BJP 20 and others 3. In Rajasthan the BJP won 119 of the 200 seats; the Congress got 57 and other parties bagged 24. In Chattisgargh, out of 90 seats the BJP had bagged 51, Congress 36, others 3. Most interesting is the result from Chattisgargh. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ramesh Bais – the main lead contender for the Chief Mister’s post is the middle of a bribery scandal. In spite of all these BJP won with landslide. The results show one thing - the voters in India may have responded to Pakistan’s terrorism and West’s overlooking of the same by sending a clear signal to the World what is coming. BJP will now have to realign its priorities and make sure right wing religious agenda is taken care of before the Parliament Elections next year. Congress has failed to provide any leadership as the opposition and it is time for the party to rethink and change its leaders. India has rejected the traditional “big words – big show politics”. Delhi shows a little different story. Unlike the other three states, the voters here were urban, more educated and less swayed by religious priorities. Congress prevailed here. If this is an indication of what India – real India – interior India thinks, then it is a clear warning to the World. Indians are fed up of double standards in fighting international terrorism. The millions of Indian voters have voiced their preferences towards BJP. Does this mean end of religious tolerance – may not be. BJP right side will be dominant now while the center and the left has to make sure traditional India prevails and minorities are taken care of.
